Research and Development

The Centre combines research and teaching resources from Curtin University and The University of Western Australia, both involved in petroleum exploration, portable water quality and treatment and environmental management. The Centre has created a unique collection of resources targeted towards applied research and improved management of organic materials in environment and agricultural industries.

The Centre draws together both biomedical and agricultural comparative genomics and bioinformatics activities and expertise in such a way as to promote shared understanding within, and across fields of study. It provides excellent opportunities to share Western Australian resources and leverage further income for the State.

The Centre follows a successful project using seismic methods for gold exploration in the Goldfields and provides research opportunities in innovative seismic and other techniques for oil and mineral exploration.

The Centre has been established to meet the mineral industry's need to increase discovery of new mineral deposits. Its five integrated research themes reflect the belief that more effective targeting, coupled with independent action to reduce the risks of value destruction, will deliver outcomes that can significantly improve the risk/reward ratio.

Provides research and development support to waste management industry and government; waste management education, recycling and pollution control; innovative solutions and developing models for organic waste management. The Centre promotes and applies principles of environmental economics to ensure environmental and economic sustainability, and collection of data through waste audits.

The Centre provides fundamental and applied research in water, carbon, and sustainability with a mission to create tools and systems to quantify sustainability in river basins as tools to optimise water quality, carbon sequestration, aesthetic value and human satisfaction while delivering maximum water, power, flood control and protein depending on the system.

The Centre is a unique collaborative research that brings together leading researchers in different disciplines - including prominent clinical researchers, leading exercise physiologists, experts in state-of-the-art brain imaging and experts in dementia and palliative care.

The Centre for MicroPhotonic Systems aims to provide highly specialised technical knowledge and research needed to trigger a dynamic and vibrant MicroPhotonic industry to develop in Western Australia. It facilitates high level collaboration between leading international research teams and arranges access to state of the art research facilities.

The Centre's role is to apply regolith science - the superficial mantle of weathered rock, sediments, soils and biotic complexes that are formed by the natural processes of weathering erosion and transportation - to the challenges facing Australia in natural resource management and mineral exploration.

The Centre provides research, development, commercialisation and training in applications of spatial information and spatial sciences. This includes location based services; geographic information systems and web based mapping.

"The Future Farm Industries CRC is a unique co-investment between meat, grains and wool industry research corporations, the Landmark agribusiness company, CSIRO, six State agencies and four universities. The Society is an association of 32 individual societies, each composed of individual members who are engaged in the profession of licensing and other aspects of transferring or profiting from intellectual property.

Comprised of academic staff, research fellows, PhD and honours students, the Institute undertakes research ranging from government-funded to confidential one-on-one industrial projects in the areas of biotechnology and nanochemistry.

The Facility provides companies and design houses with engineering, pre-production test and characterisation services. The Facility is accessible through the web with leading edge capabilities addressing the most complex testing and intellectual property validation challenges such as mixed-signal and highend digital integrated circuit technologies as well as other emerging technologies.

The Centre brings together a world-class team of researchers with diverse yet complementary skills, talents and backgrounds who carry out fundamental and applied hydrometallurgy research on behalf of the minerals industry, at laboratory and pilot scales and also at operating sites.

The Institute's mission is to improve and promote the health and well-being of children through the application of multidisciplinary research; this mission is achieved by researching the causes of childhood diseases with the aim of improving preventative strategies

The Centre is the collaborative facility for agricultural and veterinary biotechnology in Western Australia. It provides platform technologies and world class equipment and facilities for research and development in agricultural biotechnology to researchers from universities, state government and industry. More than twenty research groups and companies are located at the Centre.

A joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia, the Institute merges researchers with a record of government and industry research and development funding as well as commercialisation via start up companies that focuses research on: wireless systems, signal processing, networking, light wave and electronic systems and electromagnetic compatibility.
